my name is Maia and I am a practicing writer, astrologer, poet and transdisciplinary artist.

the connective tissue within the various strands of my work is deviance. the etymology of the word deviance is “to go ones own way".” i believe we become more useful to ourselves and the world when we embark on a path of singing our own song. deviance is an emergent path shrouded in mystery, and my hope is to continually discover and refine ways of deviating not against or for anything or anyone, but alongside myself and the creative tension that exists between the old and the new. it is in the cracks formed and claimed by personal gnosis that the deviant path begins to form itself.

in my astrological practice I am interested in corresponding with the desire in people to go their own way and making meaning, via their cosmic blueprint in a way that aligns with their context and lived experience.

i am interested in what lies between the zig and zagging, the flip and the flopping and the tick and tocking of temporal conditions that both inform the contraction of birth and the freedom in dying.

as a writer and artist, i am continually tickled by the eruption of divine chaos that wraps itself around the medium i’m most consumed with—whether that be a poem I am crafting, a story I am wrestling with or a photograph that I am studying, i am constantly enchanted by the disobedience of embodiment and how the gods of creation twist and turn with every word and thought that is leaking out my pores.
